
New Delhi, February 18, 2025 – Afshan Khan, Principal of the Apparel Training & Design Centre, visited the Andhra pavilion at Bharat Tex. She spoke passionately about the rich heritage of Andhra handlooms and handicrafts.
Addressing media persons, industry leaders, artisans, and designers, Khan highlighted the intricate craftsmanship and sustainable practices behind Andhra’s traditional textiles. "Andhra Pradesh is home to some of the finest handlooms, known for their vibrant natural dyes, unique weaving techniques, and eco-friendly processes. These textiles are not just fabrics; they are a legacy of our skilled artisans," she remarked.
She emphasized the need for greater market access, innovation, and design collaborations to ensure these crafts thrive in the modern era. "By integrating technology with tradition, we can give Andhra’s artisans the recognition they deserve on a global stage," Khan added.
Bharat Tex 2025, a premier event showcasing India's textile excellence, strongly focused on handlooms this year, with dedicated pavilions for Andhra’s cotton and silk weaves. The event attracted policymakers, designers, and entrepreneurs, all keen on promoting India’s rich textile heritage.
