Auto rickshaw driver’s daughter clears NEET-UG after failing thrice

Ruby Prajapati, the daughter of an autorickshaw driver, is currently pursuing her MBBS at Delhi’s VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital. Coming from a small village in Gujarat, Ruby was inspired to become a doctor for several reasons, including her desire to provide care and support to her village's residents, who often struggle to afford medical treatment and suffer due to the limited healthcare facilities available.

Ruby lives in a nuclear family with her father, a homemaker mother, and an elder brother who has a speech delay disorder. She shared with indianexpress.com that her younger brother passed away nine years ago, and she herself battled tuberculosis twice. These challenging experiences motivated Ruby to become a strong pillar for her family.

In addition to her medical studies, Ruby is a YouTuber with a growing community of 14.9K subscribers. On her channel, she offers guidance to students on how to crack the NEET UG exam and shares daily life vlogs. After recovering from tuberculosis in 2018, Ruby began her preparation for NEET UG. On her fourth attempt, she successfully cleared the exam with a score of 635 in 2023.

"I struggled at first and felt discouraged," Ruby shared. "After four attempts, I finally cleared the entrance exam. It wasn’t easy, and there were times I wanted to give up, but I refused to quit. I discovered Physics Wallah videos on YouTube and joined their NEET UG crash course. Staying strong and working hard helped me push through and give it my best."

While preparing for NEET UG, Ruby taught students in her village to cover her fees and other expenses. “Since our village doesn’t have coaching centers, I started offering tuition to students who, like me, were eager to learn but lacked access to proper support. I still teach today and have always found great happiness in helping students," she added.
