A music company filed a copyright action against the Congress after the party played songs from the movie KGF-2 at the Bharat Jodo Yatra, which was headed by party MP Rahul Gandhi. A Bengaluru court subsequently ordered the temporary shutdown of the Congress's Twitter account.
When the Bharat Jodo (unite India) yatra travelled through Karnataka last month before moving to the neighbouring state of Telangana, M Naveen Kumar, who manages MRT music, allegedly accused three Congress leaders, including Mr. Gandhi, of violating copyright laws by using music from the super-popular Kannada film KGF-2.
Additionally, the court mandated the temporary shutdown of the Twitter account for the Bharat Jodo Yatra campaign.
The music company's manager alleged the Bharat Jodo Yatra campaign videos have songs from KGF-2.In its order, the court said the music firm showed a CD in which the original copyrighted version was compared with the "illegally synchronised" version.
