CBSE to Conduct AI Training for Students and Teachers; Promotes Skilling Initiatives in School

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to host a virtual training session on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for students from classes 8 to 12. The program, scheduled for December 16, 2024, will be free of cost and accessible to all interested students. It aims to impart essential AI skills through the IBM SkillsBuild platform, enabling students to explore emerging technologies, earn digital credentials, and acquire future-ready competencies. Students can register for the session via the link: https://forms.gle/RuZ42FvRK3EcUFto8.

Additionally, CBSE is organizing an offline, face-to-face training session for teachers who teach AI to classes 11 and 12. The one-day program is being held at SAI International School, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, and will conclude at 4:30 PM today. Attendance is mandatory for all AI subject teachers.

These initiatives align with the Government of India’s broader push for skill development through the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0 (PMKVY), announced in the Union Budget 2023. CBSE has encouraged schools affiliated with the board—whether private or government-run—to establish Skill Hubs on their campuses, particularly those offering skill-based subjects.

As part of PMKVY 4.0, the government plans to introduce various industry-aligned and demand-driven courses, including cutting-edge topics like Drones, 3D Printing, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence. This initiative seeks to bridge the gap between traditional education and industry requirements, equipping students with competencies essential for the jobs of tomorrow.

These programs reflect CBSE’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and skilling in schools, preparing both students and teachers for an AI-driven future.
