"CM Naidu is Weaving a Stronger Future for Handlooms" — Rekha Rani

Rekha Rani, Commissioner of Handlooms and Textiles, addressed the press at the mega event Bharat Tex 2025, shedding light on Andhra Pradesh’s ambitious plans to revolutionize the textile sector. She emphasized that under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the state is making significant strides in setting up textile parks with world-class infrastructure.

During her briefing, Rani highlighted that the Andhra Pradesh government’s textile policy offers better incentives than other states, making it a prime destination for investors looking to expand in the handloom and textile industry. She extended a formal invitation to investors, assuring them of favorable policies and robust support for textile enterprises.

“In Andhra Pradesh, we are not just focusing on industrial growth but also on the upliftment of weavers. Our efforts are directed towards taking the rich crafts and fabrics of Andhra to investors and buyers from several countries across the globe,” she stated.

Rani further elaborated on the government’s proactive measures to promote Andhra Pradesh as a textile hub. She underscored the importance of providing a global platform to the state’s artisans and weavers, ensuring their traditional skills are recognized and rewarded internationally. She also spoke about the rich heritage story of each weave in Andhra Pradesh, mentioning how Mangalagiri has a legacy that dates back over 200 years, known for its unique weaving techniques and intricate designs.

Additionally, Rani conveyed Chief Minister Naidu’s vision of making handloom the next-generation clothing and ensuring its preservation until 2047. “CM Naidu believes that handlooms are not just a part of our heritage but a pillar of our future economy. His vision is to make Andhra Pradesh a global hub for textiles while ensuring our weavers thrive,” she emphasized. This long-term commitment aligns with the state’s efforts to sustain and promote the handloom industry for future generations.

The Bharat Tex event, known for bringing together textile stakeholders from across the world, served as an apt stage for Andhra Pradesh to showcase its progressive policies and vibrant textile sector. With growing investments and a strategic approach, Andhra Pradesh aims to solidify its position as a leading force in India’s textile and handloom industry.
