Coldplay began their India tour with an electrifying performance at Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium on Saturday evening. Led by Chris Martin, the iconic British band enthralled the crowd with a mesmerizing show filled with their greatest hits, dazzling visuals, and an atmosphere of pure joy.
The band performed classics like “Fix You” and “A Sky Full of Stars”, transforming the venue into a vibrant wonderland. The stage came alive with colorful lights, elaborate designs, and confetti cannons showering the audience with carnival ribbons. The band’s infectious energy brought smiles to the faces of thousands of fans.
Chris Martin charmed the audience with his attempt at Hindi, thanking the crowd with a heartfelt “shukriya.” A surprising moment came when Martin read a placard in the audience and said “Jai Shri Ram”, prompting cheers and applause from the attendees.
Ahead of the concert, Martin and his partner, actor Dakota Johnson, were spotted visiting the sacred Shri Babulnath Temple in traditional Indian attire, adding a spiritual note to their India experience.
Chris Martin’s Shout-Out to Jasprit Bumrah
The concert also thrilled cricket fans when Chris Martin unexpectedly mentioned India’s star bowler, Jasprit Bumrah. While performing one of the final songs, Martin joked, “Hold on, we have to finish the show because Jasprit Bumrah wants to come and play backstage.” He added humorously, “He says he needs to bowl at me now,” drawing loud cheers from the crowd.
Bumrah, who was recently named Player of the Series in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, didn’t attend the event but remained a popular topic of conversation.
