Hindi Diwas is commemorated on September 14 to promote the language and its use throughout the country. The inaugural Hindi Day was observed on September 14, 1953, when then-Indian Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru declared the day to be Hindi Diwas. The Constituent Assembly declared Hindi in the Devanagari script to be India's official language on September 14, 1949.
In India, seminars, quizzes, and other activities are held in schools and other educational institutions to commemorate Hindi Day. Extempore speeches and Hindi essay writing competitions are also held in an effort to promote the language.
The Films Division is marking Hindi Pakhwada from September 1 to September 15 as part of the Hindi Divas Celebration 2021 to promote the use of practical Hindi in government work. Various competitions were held to encourage officers and officials to work in Hindi. A government statement noted that dictation, essay writing, elocution competitions, and quiz competitions were among the few.
In India, September 14 is known as Hindi Diwas, or National Hindi Divas, and January 10 is known as World Hindi Day. Every year on January 10th, World Hindi Day, or Vishwa Hindi Diwas, is commemorated with the goal of promoting the Hindi language globally.
