For students interested in the MTech Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) programme, the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Delhi has introduced two new specialisations: Machine Learning and Cyber-Physical Systems. Admissions for the MTech (ECE) programme are now available, with the deadline for submitting an online application being May 3, 2021.

The decision was made in light of the rapidly changing business landscape, which includes the advent of paradigm-shifting technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and the Internet of Things (IoT), among others. According to a Forbes magazine survey, the global Machine Learning market is expected to expand at a robust CAGR of 43% from $7.3 billion in 2020 to $30.6 billion in 2024. As a result, specialisations in ECE in the MTech degree are urgently needed to develop market-ready professionals.

The MTech (ECE) Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) programme, which was recently launched, aims to train and equip students with industry-ready skills in wireless networks and control systems. The curriculum combines rigorous theory, programming, and hands-on networked machine experiments. The student will be able to enter the manufacturing workforce and contribute to the economy once the programme is completed.

The MTech (ECE) Machine Learning (ML) curriculum is based on both fundamental and cutting-edge approaches in these fields, and it is taught by faculty who are leading researchers in the field. Students may also do a thesis/capstone project and get hands-on experience with real-world datasets. This programme is designed for ECE (and related) students who want to get a head start on their career.
