
New Delhi, February 15, 2025: Shri Kalisetti Appalanaidu, Member of Parliament from Andhra Pradesh, visited the Andhra Pavilion at Bharat Tex 2025 and emphasized the need for greater recognition of weavers who dedicate days to crafting intricate fabrics. His remarks came during the grand opening of the Andhra Pavilion, which was formally inaugurated by the Honourable Minister of Textiles, Shri Giriraj Singh. Smt spearheaded the event. Rekha Rani, Commissioner of Handlooms, who represented the proud weavers of Andhra Pradesh on the international stage.
Speaking to media persons, Shri Appalanaidu praised the artisans’ dedication, stating, “Our weavers put in immense effort, weaving for days to create exquisite handloom fabrics. Through Bharat Tex, they are finally getting the recognition they deserve on a global platform.”
The Andhra Pavilion, a vibrant showcase of the state’s rich textile heritage, features iconic weaves such as Venkatagiri, Mangalagiri, Dharmavaram, Uppada, and Kalamkari. Shri Appalanaidu noted that this exhibition serves as a vital opportunity for weavers to connect with national and international buyers, expanding their reach and ensuring sustainable livelihoods.
He further reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting the handloom sector, stating, “The textile industry is not just about preserving tradition; it is also about empowering the artisans and ensuring economic stability for thousands of families dependent on this craft.”
The Andhra Pavilion continues to attract visitors at Bharat Tex 2025, offering live demonstrations by artisans and a chance to experience the intricate craftsmanship behind Andhra Pradesh’s celebrated handloom legacy.
