NEET, JEE Main: Education Ministry To Review Situation To Decide On Entrance Exams

According to sources, the Ministry of Education will examine the situation soon to determine whether the two remaining engineering entrance tests JEE-Mains and the medical entrance exam NEET will be held in August. "A review conference is likely to be held shortly to decide on the timetable for the forthcoming JEE-Mains editions and whether NEET-UG can be held on August 1," a source said.

The cancellation of class 12 board exams on Tuesday due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation will provide more clarity, and the date for the subsequent admission examinations will be determined soon.

Since this session, the JEE-Mains has been held four times a year to give students more flexibility and a chance to improve their results. The first phase began in February and ended in March, with the remaining phases set for April and May. However, they were postponed due to an exponential increase in Covid cases during the pandemic's second wave. JEE-Advanced, the entrance exam for the famous Indian Institutes of Technology and the National Institutes of Technology, was also postponed last week. The exam was set for July 3rd.

While no further decisions on NEET-UG have been made, registration for the exam, which was set to begin on May 1, has been postponed.
