New Courses on SWAYAM Platform from IITs and IISc

For the July 2021 Semester on the SWAYAM platform, the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), a joint initiative of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), has launched new courses on Electric Vehicles and Renewable Energy, Design for IoT, Business and Sustainable Development.

The courses are free of charge and are taught by faculty from IIT and IISc. NPTEL courses can be enrolled in at https://swayam.gov.in/NPTEL. Enrollment for the first set of NPTEL courses closes on August 2, 2021. Prof Vignesh Muthuvijayan, NPTEL Coordinator at IIT Madras, highlighted the unique elements of NPTEL, saying, "SWAYAM-NPTEL is currently collaborating with more than 4,000 educational institutions in engineering, arts, science, commerce, and management across the country."

NPTEL offers certification courses in the Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) style, in which students must view videos and complete assignments. According to an official announcement, the exam has a minimal price.

Students can also seek credit transfer once they pass the NPTEL certification exam, assuming the educational institute where they are enrolled allows it.

NPTEL offers courses in the fields of engineering, humanities, basic sciences, and management. To date, it has attracted over 1.4 crore registrations.
