NLSIU Bengaluru to start LLB degree for graduates

Graduates can now enrol in a three-year LLB interdisciplinary programme at the of India University (NLSIU). Unlike the LLM, which is solely open to those with a bachelor's degree in law, the programme will be open to graduates from any discipline.

Sudhir Krishnaswamy, vice-chancellor of NLSIU, launched the programme during the varsity's 29th Annual Convocation. According to him, the new three-year multidisciplinary LLB is built on an experiential learning pedagogy.

Students to the programme will be able to take admission from next year onwards and the classes will commence in 2022. The university is yet to work out the detailed guidelines and syllabus of the programme,

NLSIU has received the required regulatory approvals to launch the programme. The first cohort will start their education in July 2022. The 3-year LLB degree programmes are meant for those who have already completed their undergraduate degree in any stream and wish to specialise in Law. The institute currently offers a five-year integrated BA LLB (Hons) course apart from a one-year LLM (Masters) programme and other distance education courses.
