On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects in Maharashtra, worth over Rs 7,600 crore. He also inaugurated initiatives aimed at enhancing undergraduate and postgraduate education, as well as specialized tertiary healthcare for the public.

Among the key projects were the Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) in Mumbai, the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK), and the launch of ten new government medical colleges across the state. The newly established medical colleges are located in Mumbai, Nashik, Jalna, Amravati, Gadchiroli, Buldhana, Washim, Bhandara, Hingoli, and Ambernath (Thane).

The Indian Institute of Skills in Mumbai aims to create an industry-ready workforce equipped with cutting-edge technology and practical training. Developed under a Public-Private Partnership, this collaboration between the Tata Education and Development Trust and the Government of India will provide specialized training in fields such as mechatronics, artificial intelligence, data analytics, industrial automation, and robotics.

The Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) in Maharashtra is designed to give students, teachers, and administrators access to vital academic and administrative data through live chatbots like Smart Upasthiti and Swadhyay. It will offer schools valuable insights for resource management, strengthen the connection between parents and the state, and provide responsive, curated instructional support.
