Renowned Costume Designer Anu Vardhan Amazed by Andhra Handlooms at Bharat Tex 2025

New Delhi, February 16, 2025: India’s celebrated costume designer, Anu Vardhan, was captivated by the exquisite collection of Andhra Pradesh’s handlooms at the Andhra Pavilion during her visit to Bharat Tex 2025. The Chennai-based designer, known for her impeccable work in Indian cinema, expressed admiration for the rich textures, intricate weaves, and vibrant designs showcased at the exhibition.

Exploring traditional weaves such as Kalamkari, Venkatagiri, Mangalagiri, Dharmavaram, and Uppada, Vardhan praised the craftsmanship and timeless appeal of Andhra’s textiles. She noted that these fabrics offer immense potential for contemporary fashion, blending tradition with modern aesthetics.

"The Andhra Pavilion is a treasure trove of heritage textiles. The detailing and artistry in these fabrics are unparalleled. It’s inspiring to see the dedication of weavers in preserving and evolving these handloom traditions," Vardhan remarked during her visit.

Her presence at Bharat Tex 2025 has further reinforced the importance of handwoven fabrics in India’s fashion industry, encouraging designers to integrate sustainable and handcrafted textiles into their creations. The Andhra Pavilion continues to draw national and international interest, positioning Andhra Pradesh’s handlooms as a global fashion statement.
