New Delhi, February 16, 2025: Russian investor Nana Lakshi has shown strong interest in Andhra Pradesh’s Kalamkari fabrics at Bharat Tex 2025, recognizing their intricate craftsmanship and global market potential. Captivated by traditional artistry and sustainable production methods, Lakshi and her investment team are considering collaborating with Andhra Textiles to bring these handloom fabrics to international buyers.
Smt. Rekha Rani, Commissioner of Handlooms and Textiles, Andhra Pradesh, held brainstorming meetings with industry experts from Russia at Bharat Tex 2025, exploring avenues to take Andhra’s rich textile heritage to the global market.
During the discussions, Rekha Rani highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s renowned handloom traditions, including Kalamkari, Venkatagiri, Mangalagiri, Dharmavaram, and Uppada weaves, emphasizing their potential in international fashion and home décor markets. She engaged with Russian investors and textile industry leaders to strengthen collaborations and enhance export opportunities for Andhra’s artisans.
Committed to expanding the reach of Andhra’s textiles, Rekha Rani stated, “Our handlooms reflect centuries of craftsmanship and cultural heritage. By forging global partnerships, we aim to create new opportunities for weavers and elevate Indian textiles on the world stage.”
The initiative aligns with India’s 5F vision—Farm to Fibre, Fabric, Fashion, and Foreign Markets, reinforcing the country’s position as a sustainable textile hub. Bharat Tex 2025 continues to drive meaningful trade discussions, paving the way for stronger international collaborations and a brighter future for India’s handloom sector.
